Review highlights
Based on 81 reviewsGrongo e Alice is frequently praised for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and attentive, friendly service that creates a cozy, family-run vibe. The restaurant’s location in a charming street adds to the overall dining experience. Many diners highlight the freshness of ingredients, particularly in seafood dishes and salads, and appreciate the generous portion sizes. However, some feedback points to a disparity between the pricing and the originality or impact of certain dishes, with a few guests finding some flavors strong or less impressive. Overall, Grongo e Alice is seen as a delightful spot for enjoying traditional Istrian cuisine made with local products, appealing especially to those seeking authentic yet approachable meals in Rovinj.
We had a great experience with the service, and the atmosphere of the restaurant is really lovely. The risotto was quite good, though I wasn’t as impressed with the swordfish—the squid ink gave the polenta a very strong, sea-like flavor that wasn’t to my taste. Overall, while the presentation and setting were excellent, I felt the prices were a bit high for the quality of the dishes.
A Hidden Gem Alert... If you’re craving an unforgettable dining experience off the beaten path, look no further than this charming little spot nestled in a cozy corner just steps from the main street. Trust me—this place is worth the hunt! I was greeted by the warmest greetings from the owner and the smile from the lovely lady..Her hospitality alone could light up the room! Now, the FOOD. Oh, where to begin? Every bite was a celebration of freshness and flavor..The menu offers fantastic value for the quality—every penny spent feels justified when you taste the love (and skill) in every dish. Don’t let the unassuming location fool you. This is a must-visit for anyone who appreciates hearty, delicious food served with heaps of warmth. Perfect for a casual dinner, date night, or even a solo treat. Huge thanks to the amazing hostess who made the evening so special—I’ll be back soon.. U were amazing..
Down-to-earth, good, but definitely neither original nor exceptional Istrian food. The price creates expectations that the result fails to meet. Friendly service
Probably One of the best Meal I ever ate! Service impeccable, Location in cute Street, the vegetables and Salat were so Fresh, Steak is amazing amd portions are big. Best Scallops ever. Must go If you are visiting Rovinj. Hvala!
A Rapsody in Red Delicious food, "under-the-sea" interior, a family-run restaurant with local ,fresh products. Bruchetta with Istrian saussage and olive oil, caramelized tomato, fresh mozzarella and bits of fish are the best we have ever tasted. Pasta with prawns and mussels in red sauce unforgettable....Lamb chops soft and juicy ..and the best kommt zuletz - French pancakes with caramelized strewberries. No rapsody llike palate rapsody! If in Rovinj, don't miss out on Grongo and Alice, a resto safely tucked at a crossroads of two tiny streetts , just 2 minute walk from the market square. A hidden gem in the heart of the old town
good service. delicious food! very atmospheric place. risotto was tasty but specific. but the burger was as it seemed to me oversalted. Didn't justify the price, but good, I recommend.
Delicious experience! The seafood soup was a standout - the fish tasted incredibly fresh, almost as if it was caught that morning. The broth was perfectly seasoned, and you could taste the quality of the seafood. It wasn't just a bowl of broth with a few pieces of seafood; it was packed with a variety of high-quality seafood, making it a truly satisfying and delicious meal. A must-try for any seafood lover! Coupled with the attentive and friendly service, relaxing and cosy atmosphere, it was a truly memorable dining experience. Highly recommend! P.S. Special thanks for the Ukrainian flag
